Let’s see what they are capable of.
Today we have not quite ordinary guests — a smartphone based on Android OS and a smart watch from one of the largest Chinese manufacturers — Huawei. Together they make a great combination of gadgets for work, communication, entertainment and sports.
x Let’s start with a smartphone.
Honor 7
The body of the device is made of aluminum with embossed plastic inserts on the rear panel. Also on the back is the main camera with a resolution 20 MPcovered with sapphire crystal, dual LED flash and Fingerprint’s scanner.

Impressions from the latter were twofold. On the one hand, unlocking occurs almost instantly even when the display is off. Literally half a second, and the smartphone is ready to go.
On the other hand, the sensor does not always recognize the fingerprint. An unsuccessful attempt is accompanied by a slight vibration, and after a while this becomes very annoying. The location of the scanner on the rear panel is also not always convenient. So, if you use a phone lying on the table, then to unlock it you will first have to pick it up, well, or enter a password.
The scanner can also be used as a miniature touchpad. By default, the ability to open / close the notification center by swiping down and up, respectively, is enabled. Additionally, you can activate other actions: for example, a long press on the sensor returns to the main menu of the phone and allows you to answer an incoming call.
There are no hardware buttons on the front side. There is only a 5.2-inch screen with FullHD resolution (1920 × 1080 pixels), light and proximity sensors, a front camera (8 MP) with flash and a speaker with a small LED that signals new notifications and low battery.
The display is protected by heavy-duty Gorilla Glass 3 and an oleophobic coating that collects noticeably less fingerprints than the same iPhone 6.

At the bottom are a microphone, speaker and microUSB port. At the top are a 3.5mm headphone jack, a second microphone for noise reduction and IR port. Nobody will transfer files through it, as in the good old days, but with the help of a pre-installed application, you can control household appliances, which turned out to be very convenient. The database contains most of the remote controls from the most popular manufacturers, and if you don’t have the right one, you can program the buttons yourself by sending a signal from the original remote control to the infrared port.
On the right side of the device, everything is standard: the volume rocker and the power / lock buttons. But on the left side we are in for a couple of surprises.
First, this is the so-called smart button. There are three ways to use it: single tap, double tap and hold. On each of them, you can “hang” the launch of any application and several other actions, such as quick shooting, saving a screenshot, or turning on the flashlight. The main advantage is that the button works even when the screen is locked. In practice, it is very convenient and addictive.
The second surprise is the tray that opens with the usual «iClip». The point is that it contains two seats, and the second can be occupied by either another SIM card or a microSD memory card up to 128 GB. Here you will have to choose — either a second mobile operator, or additional disk space. Although, craftsmen at one of the Chinese forums have already found a solution to this problem by building a hybrid of a flash drive and a SIM card with the help of improvised means.

Responsible for device performance eight-core HiSilicon Kirin 935 processor, consisting of two quad-core chips with a frequency of 1.5 and 2.2 GHz. A separate i3 processor is used to process information from sensors, so that their speed does not depend on the CPU load. All this is supported by a decent amount of RAM — 3 GB.
The battery capacity of Honor 7 is 3000 mAh. In the smartphone settings, you can select one of the power consumption modes: performance (suitable for games) smart (for everyday use) and energy saving (only for calls and messages when the battery is low). In smart mode, the smartphone worked for me about one and a half days, which is pretty good. It takes two hours to fully charge the battery from a wall outlet.
The smartphone uses the graphical shell EMUI 3.1 based on Android 5 Lollipop. It is quite comfortable and beautiful, has an impressive number of settings and control options. It offers the user features such as unlocking with a double tap on the screen, launching applications using gestures, answering a call when bringing the phone to your ear, muting an incoming call when turning the screen down, etc. The graphical interface works quite smoothly, there are practically no brakes observed.
The display also makes a good impression. It has comfortable viewing angles and a responsive sensor that can be operated even with gloves on. The smartphone weighs 157 grams and is quite comfortable in the hand. Impressive dimensions are felt only when you try to put the device in your pocket, otherwise there are no inconveniences.

We figured out the smartphone, now let’s move on to the clock.
Band Zero
Although, this device cannot be called a full-fledged smart watch — rather, it is an activity tracker with a minimal but sufficient set of functions.
The gadget has a round aluminum body and a 1-inch OLED display covered with protective glass. The design is the most minimalistic: there are not even buttons on the case. On the male hand, the device looks very controversial — it is rather a female model.

The charging process is quite conveniently organized. There are 4 contacts on the back cover, to which the charger is magnetized. Full saturation with energy occurs in an hour and a half. The manufacturer claims 3 days of battery life with active use, and field tests have proven the accuracy of this information. Moreover, after three full days, I still had 20% of the charge left.

All control is carried out using the touch screen. The menu is very simple: the main screen, which displays the time, date, charge level and the status of the BT connection with the smartphone. There are 4 watch faces to choose from.
Switching between menu items is done by swiping up and down. The number of steps and calories burned for the current day is displayed, as well as the duration of the last sleep.
There is a training mode that you need to activate before running. At the end of the lesson we get a brief summary.
The tracker works in conjunction with a smartphone on iOS and Android. The Huawei Wear app is used to sync, configure, and update firmware. With it, you can view detailed information about activity and sleep. Data is available for each day and for the whole month.
The settings section includes the following items:
- No movement alarm. If you sit too long in one place, the gadget will remind you to get up and stretch. You can set the frequency of reminders and the time interval of the day when they will appear.
- Bluetooth disconnect notification. Tells you when the device loses connection with the smartphone.
- palm motion. Automatic activation of the screen when throwing up your hand. An alternative way is to tap on the screen.
- Alarm settings. Here you can set smart alarm clockwhich will lift you up in a light phase of sleep with the help of vibration.
- Do not disturb. Disable all notifications for a specified period of time.
- Firmware update.
- Reset.
Also Honor Band displays incoming call notificationsaccompanied by vibration. The display of text messages does not yet work on the Russian version of the firmware, but they promise to fix it soon.
Profile settings allow you to set physical parameters and set a daily goal for the number of steps (5, 10 or 15 thousand).
It is also possible to synchronize data with services such as HealthKit, Jawbone Up and MyFitnessPal.
An important plus is the good protection of the device from water and dust. Standard IP68 implies diving to a depth of one and a half meters, so with this gadget you can safely go to the shower or pool.
