There is something much more popular.

In the second quarter of 2015, Apple sold 3.6 million Apple Watches worldwide, according to the latest data from research firm IDC, making Apple Watches the second most popular wearable device in the three-month period ending June 30. The market leader was Fitbit, whose fitness trackers were sold in the amount of 4.4 million copies.

Chinese electronics maker Xiaomi is in third place, IDC estimates, with 3.1 million of its fitness bands shipped in the same period. Garmin and Samsung figures were rounded up to 700,000 and 600,000 units, respectively. Devices of all other brands were shipped 5.7 million, which is 31.5% of the total market.

Last month, Strategy Analytics estimated second-quarter Apple Watch sales at 4 million units, close to IDC’s estimate. Apple did not disclose sales numbers for its watches, merging them into a single «Other Products» grouping with iPods, Apple TV and accessories from Beats Electronics in its quarterly financial report. Earlier, Tim Cook mentioned that Apple Watch sales «exceeded expectations.» How much — one can only guess and trust third-party analysts. [macrumors]
